Every Organization Needs a Little More “SmaC” Talk

As a leader, it is important to be proactive. Successful leaders don’t take a “wait and see” attitude. They take action. Creating discipline around planning is vital to make sure the team remains focused in the right direction. Once the plan is developed, it is vital to execute the plan. To implement this discipline, leaders need to make sure to have a specific, methodological, and consistent (SMaC) plan. Creating a SMaC plan will help leaders gain clarity in chaotic or changing situations.

Many experts in the management field, including management guru Jim Collins, have supported this leadership concept. In the words of Collins, “We cannot predict the future. But we can create it.” For more from Jim Collins, check out his article How to Manage Through Chaos, as published in Fortune Magazine.

How To Become A Nutrition Detective

Date: Tuesday, February 21, 2011

Time: 10 am PT/12 pm CT/1 pm ET

Presented by: Cass Ryan, RD, PhD

Follow super sleuth Cass Ryan as she unlocks the mysteries of how nutritional intake of the home care and hospice patient contributes to many aspects of their physical condition – from affecting many chronic diseases, wound healing, response to certain therapies, and overall well-being. A Registered Dietitian is not always available to complete a nutritional assessment, therefore the Registered Nurse needs to be aware of what it takes to be a Nutrition Detective.

After attending this webinar, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the four components of a comprehensive nutritional assessment of an older adult.
  • List at least three physical conditions that might contribute to weight loss.
  • Describe tools for assessing nutritional intake and nutritional status of older adults.
  • List three appropriate nutritional interventions for weight loss.
