Chronic Care Act & Raise Family Caregiver Act to Benefit Home Health and Hospice

Posted on Friday, September 29, 2017 12:12 PM

Today, the Senate passed the CHRONIC Care Act and the RAISE Family Caregivers Act. Both of these Acts are now scheduled to move forward for a vote in the House.

The goal of the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act of 2017  (S.870) is to reduce Medicare costs by improving chronic disease management services and care coordination at home. The goal of RAISE Family Caregivers Act (S.1028) is to create and implement a Federal Commission and Advisory Board based upon Congress’ recommendation to coordinate all relevant governing bodies that will culminate in the creation of a national strategy to support family caregivers in both the private and public sector on an annual basis.

The CHRONIC Care Act would increase funding for telehealth for Medicare patients with chronic diseases and allow patients to receive care via ACOs from non-physician providers.

The RAISE Family Caregivers Act would help families that care for people with Alzheimer’s disease stay out of hospitals and stay in the home where they want to remain and will have the most progress.
