CMS Finalizes Medicare Advantage and Part D Payment and Policy Updates to Maximize Competition

Posted on Friday, April 5, 2019 1:29 PM

This week, CMS finalized updates that take significant steps to increase competition among Medicare Advantage and Part D plans, so patients get higher care at lower costs.

“Today’s changes give plans the ability to be innovative and offering benefits and services that address social determinants of health for people with chronic disease,” said CMS Administrator Seema Verma. “With Medicare Advantage enrollment at an all-time high, plans need greater flexibility in offering benefits that they focus on preventing disease and keeping people healthy.”

In 2020, these updates would allow for patients to receive home delivery of meals, rides for non-medical needs such as grocery shopping and home environment services for patients with conditions such as asthma.
