CMS Releases Quarterly OASIS Facts

Posted Friday, July 22, 2022

CMS has released the July, 2022 Quarterly Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) FAQs.

The release clarifies questions on items that are included in the OASIS-E.  Items D0150 and D0160, Patient Mood Interview (PHQ2-9), are addressed regarding scoring for the total points and when the interview should be stopped after completing D0150A and D0150B.

CMS notes that at times it provides new or refined instruction in the FAQs document that supersedes previously published guidance. In such cases, use the most recent guidance. Note that this guidance supersedes instruction provided in the draft OASIS-E Guidance Manual, posted May 2022.

CMS answered one question on item N0415 – High Risk Drug Classes, which clarifies how specific the documented indication must be.

Several questions on items GG0130 and GG0170 around self-care and mobility and walking and wheelchair activities are included. Along with one question on items M2020and M2030 that asks CMS to explain what is meant by “routinely stored” for medication management.
