CMS To Reimburse ICD-10 Mistakes For One Year After Transition For Some Providers

Posted on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 2:44 PM

For one year after the October 1, 2015 deadline, CMS will reimburse for wrongly coded claims as long as that erroneous code is in the same broad family as the right one. Additionally, the American Medical Association and CMS plan to conduct a nationwide outreach effort to educate providers through webinars, on-site training, educational articles, and calls to help physicians and other providers to prepare for the transition. Please note, the delay in enforcement of ICD-10 does not apply to home health and hospice agencies. Home health and hospice agencies need to be ready to code accurately using ICD-10 on October 1, 2015. Corridor is seeking clarification from NAHC and will update the blog with new information as we receive it. Click here to read more.
