CMS to Suppress RAP Payments on New Home Health Agencies

Posted on Friday, February 22, 2019 10:38 PM

CMS has announced that all new home health agencies will be subject to a provisional period of greater oversight.  This provisional period will include a suppression of all Requests for Anticipated Payment (RAP) for 30 days to one year.

CMS or one of its contractors will notify these new HHAs to let them know that they are in this provisional period via a letter.  The letter will detail when the provisional period starts and ends, that no RAP payments will be made during this period and  that the HHA must still submit a RAP for each home health episode for the final claim to be processed.
