CMS has developed a new system for Part A providers to electronically file their Medicare cost reports, the Medicare Cost Report e-Filing (MCReF) system, which was launched in late spring for submission of cost reports with fiscal years ending on or after December 31, 2017.
Earlier this month, CMS hosted a webinar on these changes, and now the presentation, audio recording and transcript are available online.
With the new MCReF system is in place, CMS plans to eliminate the option for Part A providers to submit their cost reports electronically via their assigned Medicare Administrative Contractor’s (MAC’s) portal. CMS previously announced that the MAC portals would close on July 2nd, but they have now decided that it will remain open until January 2, 2019.
