As you are aware, CMS has issued a new set of Home Health CoPs. Implementation has been delayed for some Home Health CoPs but not for all. Some experts are saying that it will take an agency up to four months to prepare for the new CoPs. One of the new CoPs that needs immediate attention is Emergency Preparedness. The Emergency Preparedness CoP is effective November 15, 2017 for all Medicare Providers and Certified Supplier Types which includes both Home Health and Hospice. Did you know that a cyberattack response needs to be part of your Emergency Preparedness plan because it may be an event that directly affects your agency operations?
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has developed a cyberattack checklist that explains how your agency should respond if there is a cyber-attack. This is very helpful information as you prepare to implement this new CoP.
