Hospices May Provide Palliative Care Under a New Pilot Project

Posted on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 8:38 PM

The Governor of California signed SB 294 into law, enabling hospices to provide palliative care to non-terminally but seriously ill patients as directed by the patients doctor no matter the patient’s estimated length of life.  This pilot program would allow the patient to continue to receive curative treatment from healthcare professionals.  This program does not cover in-patient hospice facilities.  This is a pilot program, so it ends January 1, 2022 and at the time, it will be evaluated to see if will continue.
