NAHC and Presidential Candidates Discuss Best Records on Home Care

Back in July, over 20 candidates from both parties were approached by NAHC to discuss matters pertaining to long-term care. A week before the voting begins in Iowa, two leaders in home care have appeared. Governor Kasich closed the presidential debate with his most recent achievement of reversing the bias that elderly, infirm, and disabled Ohioans are being directed to nursing homes and other institutions instead of providing care, which would allow them to remain independent in their own homes. During the presidential campaign, Secretary Clinton made several references to home care. When Hillary Clinton was a member of the U.S. Senate, she was a strong supporter for home care and hospice. “We need to recognize the value of the work that caregivers give to all of us, both those who are paid and the great number who are unpaid,” Clinton said.
