As of January 1, 2016, the Medicare hospice payment reforms went into effect. NAHC created a Q&A document on these reforms. The document can be found here. The Medicare Program; FY 2016 Hospice Wage Index and Payment Rate Update and Hospice Quality Reporting Requirements (Final Rule) implements the following improvements to Medicare hospice payments:
- Introduction of a two-tiered payment system for the RHC level of care
- Creation of a SIA payment for RN and SW visits made in the last seven days of a beneficiary’s life
