NAHC Requests Feedback on FY2017 Hospice Proposed Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released CMS-1652-P: Medicare Program; FY 2016 Hospice Wage Index and Payment Rate Update and Hospice Quality Reporting Requirements on April 21. The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) has requested feedback on the changes planned in the rule and established the following talking points as the groundwork for its comments, as well as to assist hospices and other stakeholders in development of their own comments for submission.

Comments can be submitted electronically here and are due by Monday, June 20, 2016. NAHC’s comments are still underway so the final comments may include additional modifications.

NAHC will be providing comments on the payment reform data along the following lines:
• Pre-hospice Spending
• Non-hospice Spending
• Live Discharge Rates
• Skilled Visits in the Last Days of Life
• Monitoring for Impacts of Hospice Payment Reform
