New Medicare Card Details

CMS is issuing new Medicare Cards to every Medicare beneficiary. It will not include social security numbers, in hopes to prevent fraud & abuse.

 The card will have an 11-digit unique, randomly-assigned Medicare number. CMS will begin mailing the new cards in April 2018. There will be a 21-month transition period where healthcare providers can use either the old or new card.
