Representative David Cicilline (D-RI) has introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives to re-establish the Permanent Select Committee on Aging, which has been disbanded more than a quarter of a century ago. The resolution has been sent to the House Rules Committee for markup.
Previously, the House Aging Committee focused on increasing home care benefits for the elderly and disabled and Alzheimer’s patients.
“Our nation’s seniors deserve dedicated attention by lawmakers to consider the legislative priorities that affect them, including Social Security and Medicare, the rising cost of prescription drugs, poverty, housing issues, long-term care, and other important issues,” Cicilline said in a statement.
