Trump Reveals His New Budget, Proposing A Massive $610 Billion Cut

As the Trump administration unveiled its new budget this week, it has many people shaking their heads, both consumers and providers alike. In this new budget, Trump is proposing a massive $610 billion cut which is on top of the almost $800+ billion dollar cut proposed in the new American Health Care Act, the replacement for the Affordable Care Act that passed the House on May the 4th.

The Congressional Budget Office, CBO recently scored the proposal and is forecasting that this will reduce the Medicaid population by 23 million people. Many are saying that this will have a devastating impact on the poor and children by severely limiting mainstream access to routine and essential care. Although both are just proposals and there is a long way to go to obtain support; if implemented, the cuts could change the delivery of Medicaid and access for many currently receiving benefits under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

The Senate still needs to take up discussion on the AHCA bill and the president’s budget still needs to pass Congress. There will most likely be a number of iterations to be developed. To read the full articles that share greater detail, please click here and here.
