DOJ to Continue to Focus on Healthcare Fraud in 2021

Department of Justice recently indicated that there will be continued focus in 2021 to combat fraud and abuse for home care and SNF providers.

This focus may be magnified due to the volume and level of COVID-19 related relief programs that may have provided financial funding to industry providers with relatively vague qualification requirements.  In addition, the CARES Act created oversight and enforcement mechanisms which create increased risk for agencies that may have participated in the programs.
