Home Health Providers, Staff in for ‘Rude Awakening’ Following PHE Expiration

Someday soon, the PHE will end, and home health will feel the the repercussions.  When it does, that will have ramifications on home health providers specifically, and home-based care more generally. With the declaration came a handful of waivers and flexibilities meant to alleviate the harsh impacts of the pandemic for home health providers.

“We expect it to be extended, because we have been informed by CMS that they would be providing 60 days’ notice before they would end it, to allow time to prepare,” Cindy Krafft, co-owner and co-founder of the consulting firm Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions, told Home Health Care News. “Since we were not given 60 days’ notice, prior to July, it would seem logical … that they will extend it at least one more time.”
