NAHC reminded hospices that the submission of HIS records to CMS must be verified by the hospice. They’ve received some reports from hospices that submitted the HIS records, but the submissions were not received by CMS resulting in a 2% reduction in the annual payment update for the hospice. Information about a hospice’s submissions is available in CASPER and it is the hospice’s responsibility to verify that the submissions have been accepted by CMS.
