“A Huge Victory”: Home Care Turnover Rate Remains Stable at 62.5%

Turnover in home care has been bouncing up and down for year.  In 2019 turnover rate was, 66.7% in 2019 to 81.6% in 2018, then falling back down to 64.3% in 2019.  During 202, amidst a pandemic of massive proportions, the fact the rate climbed ever so slightly to an overall rate of 65.2% is surprising and a victory.

“The phrase ‘all-time high’ could be used to describe turnover just a couple years ago,” Erik Madsen, CEO of Home Care Pulse, told Home Health Care News. “In terms of caregiver satisfaction, employers did an excellent job during the COVID-19 period of reaching out, recognizing workers and communicating. They just did everything they could to make that experience as [manageable as possible] for their employees.”
