Cancer Patients Often Not Referred to Palliative, Mental Health Care

According to data on an Oncology Insights Report from Cardinal Health, most specialists do not refer cancer patients to palliative or mental care. Almost 70% of respondents said they knew that the outcomes were better for patients who were referred to palliative care, but they still did not offer the referral for the services.

“The results are surprising when considering that several research studies have shown that a significant portion of patients with cancer are referred to palliative care too late,” according to the study.
