CMS Expects a 2% Increase to Hospice Payments in 2017

Posted on Monday, April 25, 2016 4:41 PM

CMS announced a possible $330 million increase in Medicare payments to hospices in FY2017. The total increase is 2%, but the increase suggests additional quality measures and reporting requirements for hospices serving Medicare beneficiaries. CMS also projected increasing payments for SNF and inpatient facilities for 2017.

CAHPS is another important factor that goes into this proposal. The survey is created to evaluate the patients who have died while receiving hospice care. The data will be collected from January to December 2017. CMS expects to raise hospice payments 1.1% for 2016 and 1.3% for 2015.
