CMS has expanded the current Accelerated and Advance Payment Program for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency with the goal of extending financial hardship relief to a broader group of Part A providers and Part B suppliers.
“All providers and suppliers will be able to request up to 100% of the Medicare payment amount for a three-month period. There are a number of qualifications for participation in the program and terms , including that a provider not be under “active medical review”; however, it is the National Association for Home Care & Hospice’s (NAHC’s) understanding that providers interested in ongoing participation in the Review Choice Demonstration (RCD) program does NOT disqualify home health providers from seeking accelerated/advance payments under this special program, and most other medical reviews that are not related to fraud concerns have been suspended during the national emergency. The Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) are under direction to accelerate processing of applications and make determinations within seven (7) days.”
