CMS Releases Home Health-Based Hospice Cost Report Changes

NAHC has been monitoring activity in hospice cost reporting requirements for years. CMS has made comments and reviewed recommendations throughout the entire process. The revised hospice cost report became effective on or after October 1, 2014. The report was expected that all provider-based hospices will be required for cost reporting years beginning on or after October 1, 2015. Hospice providers are encouraged to prepare their organizations for the upcoming reporting requirements at this time. The newest proposal of cost reporting changes for home health-based hospices was given to CMS for public comment on February 10th with a 3-day comment period. The notice for industry review is available here, and the secondary documents for the notice are available here. The provider-based hospice cost reporting requirements are still planned for cost reporting years beginning on or after October 1, 2015.
