Higher Medicare Spending on LTSS Patients

13% of Medicare beneficiaries 65+ need long-term services and supports (LTSS) because they are unable to perform two or more daily living activities or have severe cognitive impairment.  A recent study, Medicare Spending on Older Adults Who Need Long-Term Services and Supports, showed that Medicare spends about 3x as much per capita on that 13% of LTSS patients.
