Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act Introduced to Support Nurse Practitioners

Posted on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 1:39 PM

On Thursday, March 30, Representatives Chris Collins (R-NY), Jan Schakowski (D-IL), Ron Kind (D-WI), Pat Tiberi (R-OH), Gregg Harper (R-MS), Trent Kelly (R-MS) and Patrick Meehan (R-PA) introduced H.R. 1825, the Home Health Planning Improvement Act, which is a companion of S.445. VNAA are strong supporters of this new bill.

The passage of this legislation allows nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA) and other advanced practice health professionals to provide essential services for their Medicare patients by letting them certify their patients to be qualified for home health care services and conduct face-to-face encounter.

Since it was first introduced, VNAA has worked extremely hard to gain bipartisan support for the bill in both houses of Congress. In addition, VNAA will work off the momentum to ensure passage in the 115th Congress.
