The Hospice Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER) has been released with statistics through September 2017. PEPPER is an educational tool that summarizes provider-specific data statistics for Medicare services that may be at risk for improper payments. Providers can use the data to support internal auditing and monitoring activities.
To download a copy of your hospice’s PEPPER, have your CEO, President, Administrator or Compliance Officer:

- Review the instructions and gather the information required for access
Note: A new validation code is needed. A patient control number (UB04 form locator 03a) or medical record number (UB0 form locator 03b) from a claim from a traditional Medicare FFS beneficiary with a claim “from” or “through” date between July 1 – September 30, 2017 will be required.

This PEPPER will be available for approximately 2 years.
