NAHC received some answers to outstanding questions hospices had about the Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP), relating primarily to changes from the Hospice Visits When Death is Imminent (HVWDII) measure to the Hospice Visits in Last Days of Life (HVLDL) measure and the Hospice Care Index (HCI).
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) indicated in the responses previously provided to NAHC that there would be a document posted soon that would clarify the issues that were causing confusion for providers. This document, Common Questions – HQRP Claims-Based Quality Measures: February 2021, posted recently and it provides the same information in the previous NAHC Report article linked above, as well as some additional information. Topics covered include: HIS Manual V3.00, HVLDL, Hospice Care Index and the Future of the Hospice Quality Reporting Program. Additional resources for providers are also linked from the document.
More information about exactly what measures will be publicly reported and when is expected to be further addressed in the FY2022 hospice proposed rule which should be posted at the end of April.
