MedPAC held a meeting to continue its debates on developing a unified PPS covering the PAC settings on January 15, 2016. As required under the IMPACT Act of 2014, MedPAC is assigned to develop a PPS, using the data gathered during the CMS PAC-PRCD completed in 2011. MedPAC has been a supporter of the home health and SNF payment systems that encourage providers to deliver therapy related to the patient’s care needs. The unified payment system is set to expand the four settings based on payments for the patient’s characteristics and not site of care. The first mandated report is due at the end of June 2016. The report must include features of a unified system, along with the impacts of moving to such a system. The second report is due around June 2023. For the full article, click here.
