The national hourly rate for Hospice CNAs was 9.84% higher in VNAs than at for-profit hospice agencies. CNAs at VNAs averaged $14.96 per hour versus $13.62 per hour for CNAs at for-profit hospices.
In state reporting, CNAs in Alabama, Mississippi, and Oklahoma received the lowest pay, with Massachusetts and California ranking as the highest paid. The average CNA caseload reported was 12.87, up from the 2017 figure of 12.04. The average number of actual patient visits/day for CNAs was 5.43, up slightly from 5.39. CNA turnover increased from 21.97% last year to 24.44% in 2018.
The study included 693 hospices, of which 99.56% of were Medicare-certified hospice agencies. The complete 180-page report contains 64 jobs reporting on salaries, bonuses, and hourly & per visit rates. The data is reported by state, region, CBSA, auspice, hospice type, and revenue size. The results include the 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th percentiles, average, number of agencies, and number of employees by position. Also included are 20 fringe benefits, planned percent increases, turnover rates, and personnel policies.
