CMS has consistently received comments from hospice providers detailing difficulty in determining which days are paid as high or low for routine home care. In an effort to provide more transparency, CMS and the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) decided to add value codes to the claims to show which RHC days were paid high and low rates.
Effective October 1, 2018, Change Request 10573 instructs the MACs to create fields to show which days were paid at high RHC and low RHC. The MAC will add a new value code to the claim.
