Scam Phone Calls Targeting Seniors

Posted on Sunday, January 27, 2019 3:52 PM

NAHC has discovered another criminal scam targeting the elderly, often patients of home health care and hospice.  Since NAHC members operate with the best and most ethical business practices, we know they will want to alert their patients to be aware of these schemes.

The Social Security Association (SSA) has become aware that fraudulent phone calls are being made by scammers posing as SSA employees.  The callers are using threatening language to warn victims that they could be arrested or face other legal charges unless they either hit a number indicated in the message or call a provided number.  Other times, the callers say that they are calling to help the victims activate a suspended social security number.
