Some Hospices Receiving SIA Payments Incorrectly

Posted on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 4:22 PM

CMS implemented a new payment system effective January 1, 2016 under which hospice organizations receive one of two per diem rates for RHC, qualifying them for SIA payments when registered nurses and social work service visits are provided during the last seven days of a patient’s life. NAHC received a notice from MACs on how some hospice providers are receiving incorrect SIA payment adjustments related to CHC. Consequently, these hospice providers may be receiving overpayments for some of the care days they have billed. This has proven to be a nationwide issue, and the error has been reported to the FISS Maintainer. The error is scheduled for action on February 22, 2016. For the full article, click here.
