The Resignation of Tom Price Amid Travel Scandal

Posted on Monday, October 2, 2017 1:44 PM

Tom Price, HHS, resigned Friday amid an investigation into the use of private jets at taxpayer expense. The government spent more than $1 million on travel, including 26 charter flights within the US, and additional travel to Africa, Asia, and Europe. Price was an advocate for making mandatory value based care models voluntary. It will be interesting to watch the direction within HHS and CMS given all the turmoil in Washington with all the proposals on the table. Price believed the same value-based goals could be achieved through voluntary programs, not all felt the same way.
