CMS expected 2020 to be the year of PDGM, instead its been all about COVID-19 and its aftermath. They have had to focus on helping home health agencies and Medicare in making executive decisions. Home health agencies overall have been happy with CMS’ initiatives, but some still see some major flaws in what CMS has done.
“I think CMS has done well. They’ve done a pretty good job on [coronavirus support] so far,” one executive from an Illinois-based home health agency told Home Health Care News. “They provided funding through the CARES Act. They loosened some of the [reporting] requirements. They opened up telehealth, which created a lot of access. If you look at it from the perspective of how quickly they had to do everything, I think they did a pretty good job.”
Home Health Care News conducted a survey to see how home health agencies feel that CMS has done during this pandemic, and 70% feel that they have been “somewhat supportive” during this pandemic.
