CMS utilizes MAC to review clinical documentation to prevent improper payments. In 2014, CMS began Probe and Educate to help reduce errors in the claims submission process. CMS feels the program has been successful based on the decreased number of claim errors after the provider received education. They are now moving to a more targeted approach.
