Updates on CoP Interpretive Guidelines

Posted on Thursday, November 2, 2017 2:15 PM

CMS released a draft of the interpretive guidelines for the CoPs, giving some clarity on the new requirements which will be effective January 13, 2018.

Stakeholders are still waiting for clarity on multiple CoP requirements, including:

  • Medication management
  • Communication with physicians in the care plan
  • Emergency preparedness

“The draft leaves many unanswered questions. Corridor’s commentary, along with all others going to NAHC, will be funneled to CMS by late November. Although some predict there will be a delay, providers should still ensure they are prepared by January,” said Peggy Patton, Vice President of Education Services at Corridor.

It’s been previously stated that the finalized interpretive guidelines will be released in December, not leaving much time for agencies to fully prepare.
