As we covered here, the American Health Care Association has asked CMS to change the icon used to alert potential customers to abuse claims against nursing homes. This week CMS Administrator Seema Verma responded to this request while testifying before the House Committee on Energy & Commerce.
“This isn’t really going to impact very many nursing homes,” Verma said. “There are many nursing homes that provide high-quality care, but there are some out there [that don’t], and we think it’s important to make sure that the American people have the information that they need to make the decisions that work best for them.” She states that only 5% out of more than 15,000 nursing homes will be impacted by the icon.
